Phurbu T Namgyal

Phurub T Namgyal is called as Namphy (Namgyal Phurbu) by his close friend. Phurbu T. Namgyal is a self taught Tibetan singer, songwriter currently residing in Minnesota, USA. He creates contemporary Tibetan music which appeals to the the younger generation of Tibetans living inside and outside of Tibet. He has performed in many North American cities and India, and varioud European countries. Phurbu T Namgyal has also perrformed with many other Tibetan music artists, such as Tsering Gyurmey. His albums thus far include popular Tibetan albums like Revolution, Shambala, Penchen, With You, Chak Sum Tsel, and Love Story: Gapoe Tam.

July 13, 2007 Phayul News - Tibetans in Barcelona earlier on July 6 celebrated 72nd Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama with special show performance by one of the most popular exile Tibetan singers, Phurbu T. Namgyal. The Tibetan community led by Ven. Kushog Wangchen, Director of the Barcelona based Foundation and Geshe Lamsang and Geshe Jamphel held prayers dedicated to the long life of His Holiness. As Phurbu T. Namgyal presented his popular numbers, Tibetans joined him to sing along with such euphoria. Other Tibetan cultural songs and dances were also performed. After a special entertaining raffle draws, the celebration event finally concluded as the local community members sang in solemn pride the national anthem of Tibet and Catalonia. Catalonia with Barcelona as its capital, is one of the constituent autonomous communities of Spain divided into four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona.
