Bhool Bhulaiya as you might alreay know is the Hindi movie remake of the popular Malayalam blockbuster, Manichitrathazhu (translation - The Ornate Lock) of 1993 which was also remade in Kannada (Aaptamitra) starring Vishnuvardhan in 2004, and in Tamil and Telugu (Chandramukhi) starring Rajnikanth in 2005. The film features bollywood movie stars like Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Amisha Patel and Shiny Ahuja in pivotal roles with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles. Pritam will score the music whilst S. Theeru and N. Gopalakrishnan handle the cinematography and editing of the film, respectively. Vidya Balan will will be the female protagonist of the movie. In the Malayalam original, Shobhana enacted the role and it was a National Award winning performance for the Best Actress. The film began shooting on February 18, 2007 for a 41 day schedule at Jaipur, India with a release date on October 12, 2007.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa May be in a Legal Trouble: Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Bhool Bhulaiya seems to have run into trouble. An advocate has filed a petition in the Mumbai Sessions Court objecting to one of its songs. According to Mumbai-based advocate S Kunjuraman, the title song Hare Rama Hare Krishna hurts the sentiments of Hindus and Buddhists because half-clad girls are shown dancing in the song. "It is objectionable and therefore, the song must be deleted from the film," he tells rediff.com The film's promos are currently being aired, and the song has soared to the top of the music charts. Bhool Bhulaiya, directed by Priyadarshan , is a remake of Rajnikanth's Tamil blockbuster Chandramukhi, which, in turn, was remade from the Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu.
